Southern Current is made up of five guys who seriously love to play music together. We do it for the fun of it!

One thing that sets us apart is family...Joe and Steve Williams are our guitarist brothers, and John Gafford is our other guitar player, plus harmonica and back-up vocals. His brother Bill Gafford is on keys, and last, but certainly not least, we have our amazing drummer and lead singer, Ray Mahathy.

We came together several years back as a mixture of two bands, Southern Connection and Undercurrent. John, Joe and Steve have been the heart of the band from the beginning. Over the years, we've had some changes, but our two best moves are still with us: First, Ray our drummer/lead singer, who is truly awesome at what he does, and secondly, Bill joined the band two years ago and is a master of music on the keys. Change always brings about opportunities, so to make things work, all three guitarists have taken up the bass guitar and alternate playing on different songs and sets.
